Under the ambit of Student Welfare Cell, surveys were conducted amongst first year MBBS students to assess the antiragging measures. Four surveys were done with an eleven point Questionnaire between July 2012 to October 2012. Sharda Girls Hostel and Vivekananda Boys Hostel were selected for the assessment as maximum number offirst year MBBS students are been allocated in these hostels. A total of 82 students (42 males and 40 females) were randomly selected for the survey
The objectives of the questionnaire were to assess the prevalence and status of ragging amongst students and to assess the satisfaction of Anti-ragging measures for the students
All the students have never faced ragging either in the campus or in the hostel premises and all students were well aware ofthe fact that ragging is a criminal offence. None of the student was anxious /nervous about ragging. All the students have agreed the fact that the undertaking from the students and their parents have helped to prevent the incidences of ragging and that psychological counselling by the Student’s guidance Clinic has helped them to better understand and deal with their seniors. So also all the students are satisfied about the security arrangements and the anti-ragging measures undertaken by the college.
From the survey, we can conclude that we have been able:

  1. To sensitize the students about ragging.
  2. To reduce the anxiety/nervousness about ragging
  3. To provide a secure and congenial atmosphere in the campus

The overall report shows that as per our mission, we have so far succeeded in achieving “Ragging free campus with Zero Tolerance” in the campus
